Artspace @ The Other Place

Artspace Workshops to continue!

After a really successful experiment this summer, Artspace workshops are continuing as a weekly event.

There will be regular drop-in sessions every Wednesday, 11am to 3pm, and every Friday 12pm to 2pm.

All are welcome. Come and explore your creativity!

Our next exhibition will be curated by Artspace too. Drop-in to see some of the work in progress anytime, and look out for more info soon.

Menopause Support Drop-In

Mon 01 Sep, 1pm to 3pm

A monthly drop-in for anyone wanting to chat, connect and find support around all things menopause.

Whether you’re pre-, peri-, post-menopause or simply curious, you are welcome here. This is a relaxed, safe space to share experiences, ask questions, and grab a cuppa with others who understand!

 

ADHD Dropin

Mon 01 Sep, 6pm to 8pm

A monthly peer support group for adults with ADHD.

Drop in and be yourself anytime between 6-8pm

Community Renewable Energy Workshop

Thurs 18 Sep, 6pm to 9pm

Community-led energy projects keep benefits local – from cheaper energy bills to investment in local facilities.

When communities lead energy projects, they create solutions that work for everyone – tackling both climate change and rising energy costs. Join Low Carbon Gordano, North Somerset Council and the centre for Sustainable Energy for this interactive workshop.

Weston Poets

Sat 20 Sep, 2.15pm to 4.30pm

The themes for this session will be ‘Weather’ and ‘Childhood’ but, as always, any poems are welcome. Weston Poets are also putting together poems about Weston-super-Mare, so poems about our town are also very welcome!

If you would rather just join the group to listen, that’s fine too. No booking needed.

Black Men's Mental Health Research

Wed 24 Sep, 6pm to 8pm

This event will centre on Black African and Afro-Caribbean Men. All welcome. Hosted by Caafi Health, the focus will be on identifying areas for research that really matter to community members. Issues of representation and cultural competency in the research community will also be discussed. To attend, please email office@rens.org.uk.

 

Care Space: Building Boundaries in Socially Engaged Arts Practice

Thurs 25 Sep, 6.30pm to 8.30pm

How do we care for communities while also caring for ourselves? This reflective, practical workshop will explore the ethics, challenges & responsibilities that come with socially engaged arts work, and support you to build & navigate professional boundaries. 

A Bhagavad Gita talk by Adi Guru Das

Join us for a Bhagavad Gita talk by Adi Guru Das – and evening of philosophy and kirtan. Free entry, donations welcome.

Comic Book Club

Join the Comic Book Club to learn drawing techniques and develop your ideas with a warm and friendly group. For all ages. All welcome. No experience needed.

Housing Support Drop In

Every Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm

A drop-in session for anyone who is having housing difficulties.

Bhakti Basics – Krishna Consciousness in Weston-super-Mare

Sundays, 1pm to 3pm 

A group of people from all walks of life who come together for an afternoon of Devotional Music (Kirtan), Mantra Meditation, a short discourse on Krishna Consciousness and a Vegetarian Meal.

The focus is on community and all are welcome. No previous experience or knowledge needed.

Free event, no booking is needed.

PUBLIC LIVING ROOM

Our public living room is open every afternoon on weekdays (2pm-5pm, Monday to Friday). Come and relax, help yourself to a cuppa from our community kitchen and have a chat. We’d love to see you. (We’ve also  joined the excellent Camerados movement. Find out more and  spread the word!)
