JUNE

Cooking Challenge photo exhibition!

A photo exhibition celebrating some of the delicious vegetarian and vegan meals created by our international cooking team during our Cooking Challenge Project.

While the project is finished, the cooking continues… if you’d like to get involved, do join our Cooking Circle Facebook Group to stay updated. There will be more opportunities to cook, to learn and to share great food!

The exhibition can be viewed Mon to Fri, 12pm to 5pm.

JUNE EVENTS

Bhakti Recovery Group

Sun 08 June, 2pm to 5pm

An afternoon of healing and clarity, a practical approach to spiritual recovery with Bhakti Recovery Group Founder Jiva Hammond. The only requirement for membership is the desire for recovery.

Expect a mix of group sharing, simple spiritual practices, and clear guidance for moving forward in recovery. All welcome, no booking needed.

Weston Poets

Sat 14 June, 2.15pm to 4.30pm

The themes for this session will be ‘Bridges’ and ‘Trees’ but, as always, any poems are welcome. Weston Poets are also putting together poems about Weston-super-Mare, so poems about our town are also very welcome!

If you would rather just join the group to listen, that’s fine too. No booking needed.

UN Day for Countering Hate Speech

Wed 18 June, 12pm to 2pm

Join RENS for lunch and an open discussion on the impact of an increasingly hostile environment on all of us. Do we shut down? Do we respond? How can we come together to reduce levels of fear and hostility and create a community where we all feel we belong, regardless of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity.

World Refugee Day

Fri 20 June, 4pm to 8pm

Community as a Superpower is the theme for this year’s Refugee Week (16th to 22nd June) and, at The Other Place, the food prepared by our amazing cooks is definitely a superpower! It plays a key role in building a community, where all are welcome. We hope you will join us to mark this important day with shared food (of course), music and conversation.
