Over the summer holidays, opening hours at The Other Place will be a bit different and we’re really excited to announce a new collaboration with Artspace.
Connect with the Weston Artspace community in a relaxed and welcoming environment starting Wednesday, 6th August, from 11am to 3pm.
All are welcome.

Artspace Dropin
Every Wednesday, 11am to 5pm

During this open session there will be a weekly theme to get you started on a creative project if you need inspiration. Or you are welcome to bring your own project along and work alongside like-minded creatives.
A variety of art materials and paper will be available to explore drawing techniques, collage or simply relax and colour in.
All abilities welcome, no booking required, just drop in, relax, get inspired and explore your creativity.

Recovery Dharma

6.30pm to 8.30pm
Recovery Dharma offers a trauma-informed, empowered approach to recovery based on Buddhist principles. The sessions are peer-led and nontheistic.
All who wish to pursue recovery are welcome. Buddhist Practices & Principles are used to heal from the suffering of addictions. Buddhist Inspired, not Buddhist Required.

Grief as Grace: A Black Women’s Audio Archive

A powerful listening event that centres the voices of Black women reflecting on grief in all its forms — including grief through death, as well as loss of identity, relationships, culture, safety, and self.
With a shared supper. All welcome.

Weston Poets
Sat 16 August, 2.15pm to 4.30pm
The themes for this session will be ‘Truth’ and ‘First Love’ (or any kind of love) but, as always, any poems are welcome. Weston Poets are also putting together poems about Weston-super-Mare, so poems about our town are also very welcome!
If you would rather just join the group to listen, that’s fine too. No booking needed.

Bake Sale to support AfriFest Weston!
Mon 18 August, 10am to 2pm
Don’t miss the amazing selection of cakes! There’s domething for everyone’s taste – Ginger and Cherry, Vegan Chocolate and Courgette Cake, Strawberry Shortbread Biscuits, Orange Sponge, Fruit Cake, gluten free Lemon Drizzle and Cookie Dough Pie. If you prefere savoury, there will be vegetarian and gluten free quiches.
Come early to make sure there is still some left!

Hare Krishna Class and Kirtan

The devotees from the Cardiff Hare Krsna temple will be visiting The Other Place to give a class and lead kirtan – all welcome!!

Housing Support Drop In
Every Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm
A drop-in session for anyone who is having housing difficulties.
Bhakti Basics – Krishna Consciousness in Weston-super-Mare
Sundays, 1pm to 3pm
A group of people from all walks of life who come together for an afternoon of Devotional Music (Kirtan), Mantra Meditation, a short discourse on Krishna Consciousness and a Vegetarian Meal.
The focus is on community and all are welcome. No previous experience or knowledge needed.
Free event, no booking is needed.
PUBLIC LIVING ROOM
Our public living room is open every afternoon on weekdays (2pm-5pm, Monday to Friday). Come and relax, help yourself to a cuppa from our community kitchen and have a chat. We’d love to see you. (We’ve also joined the excellent Camerados movement. Find out more and spread the word!)
