Cooking Challenge photo exhibition!

This month’s photo exhibition celebrates some of the delicious vegetarian and vegan meals created by our international cooking team during our Cooking Challenge Project.

While the project is finished, the cooking continues… if you’d like to get involved, do join our Cooking Circle Facebook Group to stay updated. There will be more opportunities to cook, to learn and to share great food!

The exhibition can be viewed Mon to Fri, 12pm to 5pm.

APRIL EVENTS

Decoration Painting

Fri 11 Apr, 11am to 3pm

Come and help us paint decorations to be used in our Easter Bonnet making session on Monday 14 April and for our High Tea for Easter on Tuesday 15 April (see below for booking information).

All materials will be provided and lunch will be served at 12.15pm.

All welcome, no booking needed.

 

Kripamoya Das: Kirtan, Lecture & Prasadam

Fri 11 Apr, 7pm to 9pm

Find out more about the Hare Krishna movement from Kripamoya Das, a disciple of the spiritual teacher who created the movement. Experience Kirtan (a type of singing meditation) and share Prasadam (food that has been prepared with love).

All welcome. No booking necessary.

Easter Bonnet Making

Mon 14 Apr,  11am to 3pm

Create your own Easter Bonnet at this fun workshop. Drop in anytime. All materials provided and all welcome.

Wear your bonnet to our High Tea for Easter see below).

Lunch will served at 12.15pm.

High Tea for Easter

Tues 15 Apr, 3pm to 5pm

Join us for a traditional high tea to celebrate Easter, with finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and sweet treats.

Wear your best Easter Bonnet and help us choose the winner of our Easter Bonnet competition!

Weston Poets

Sat 19 Apr, 2.15pm to 4.30pm

Weston Poets are an established group. This is their first time at The Other Place. Come along and share your writing with this friendly and inclusive group.

All poems will be welcome, but if you enjoy writing to a theme try ‘Rivers’ and ‘Family’. If you would rather just join the group to listen, that’s fine too. No booking needed.

 

Active Allies

Mon 28 Apr, 12pm to 1.30pm

This month’s regular Active Allies Session, will be in person at The Other Place. Join RENS to discuss initiatives in progress and share actions that you and/or your organisation is taking to counter narratives of hate and build a more inclusive community where all can feel they belong. No booking required.

Lunch will be provided.

Comic Book Club

Fortnightly on Mondays, 4.30pm to 6pm

Join the Comic Book Club to learn drawing techniques and develop your ideas with a warm and friendly group. For all ages. All welcome. No experience needed.

Housing Support Drop In

Every Thursday from 2pm to 3pm

A drop-in session for anyone who is having housing difficulties.

Bhakti Basics – Krishna Consciousness in Weston-super-Mare

Sunday, fortnightly, 1pm to 3pm April dates TBC

A group of people from all walks of life who come together for an afternoon of Devotional Music (Kirtan), Mantra Meditation, a short discourse on Krishna Consciousness and a Vegetarian Meal.

The focus is on community and all are welcome. No previous experience or knowledge needed.

Free event, no booking is needed.

PUBLIC LIVING ROOM

Our public living room is open every afternoon on weekdays (2pm-5pm, Monday to Friday). Come and relax, help yourself to a cuppa from our community kitchen and have a chat. We’d love to see you. (We’ve also  joined the excellent Camerados movement. Find out more and  spread the word!)
