Communication plays a vital role in connecting people and sharing ideas and information. The Friends Project is an initiative to help improve communications within minor communities (Others) in North Somerset. Friends will bring together minor communities in online and offline platforms. At the initial state we created three public Facebook groups in Dari/Pashto, Arabic and Ukrainian, which we hope to expand to other languages in the future. These Facebook groups help speakers of the languages to get together in specific platforms, share ideas, discuss issues and stay connected. Moreover, they can be contacted very easily whenever there is a gathering where they are invited to participate. These groups are also used to educate and help the communities about day-to-day activities. Friends holds events to share information and advice, celebrate cultural occasions and in general practice Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in North Somerset. Additionally, the project is creating job opportunities for a diverse group of people, which includes people from minor communities in North Somerset.
